What's this world/society come to???

A few things (ok, well a LOT) on my mind for the past few weeks.  Now I get to "blog" about it.  Like I said before, hopefully this will be my therapy.  LOL!
Now, is it just me......or has customer service completely gone down the drain?  Or does EVERYTHING have to do with looks in order for you to get good customer service??  A lesson that I learned a LONG time ago is NEVER judge a book by it's cover!!!!!!  Some people seriously need to learn the true concept of that meaning.  Has society played that much of a role and influenced that much that everyone judges a person by with what they look like?  or what they wear?

Example:  Customer Service.  (this I actually did on purpose as an experiement......it was so successful that I contacted fox news investigation team and they are using my story and investigating on their own.....stay tuned for the story....)
Ok so I'm at the mall doing some retail therapy.  I go into a specific store (one of my favorites mind you) and browse around.   Now on this specific day I was in one of my "jeanie does not give a rat's a** day".  Meaning, no make up, hair pulled in a messy bun, jeans, oversized baggy sweatshirt, sneakers.  I looked like your average asian chick just shopping.  The store was almost empty...maybe there were 3 other people in there.  I "browse" around.  I even acted like I was confused.  I KNOW these b*tches saw me.  The ENTIRE time they ignore me.  Go on talking about how much they drank the night before, or how joe schmoe didn't call so she is sooooo upset, or there are these really cute boots that so and so wants to get....etc...etc you get the point.  I pick up a shirt and walk to one of the girls and ask if they have it in a smaller size.  Which she quickly responds without even looking at me "no what you see is all we have."  Now usually, at these stores these people walk around asking you if you need help.  Then they tell you their name and say something like "My name is (fill in the blank) if you need any help."  Nope.  Nothing here.  SO after about 25 minutes of being ignored (yes, 25 minutes) I left.  But as I was leaving I heard "I TOLD you she wasn't going to buy anything!!!!  ugh!  I hate people who waste my time!!"  Wow.

So a few days later I go back to the store.  Only this time I was "glamorized" Jeanie.  Oh yes, the porn star hair came out...in it's curls, make up done perfect if I do say so myself, wearing my "nicer" designer jeans and a form fitting tunic sweater with yes...the hooker boots.  Had my "designer" bag and my "designer" sunglasses placed on top of my head.  For those who know my "plain" side and my "glameros" side...know...that I can clean up pretty damn well.
So I go in....pretend I'm looking around.  Now within 3 minutes....the exact same girl who wouldn't even give me the time of day a few days earlier is already on my a**.  (Also, it's a lot busier today then it was a few days ago).
Girl:  May I help you with anything??
Me:  Oh no, not yet.  Just looking around, thank you.
Girl:  Ok, well if you need anything, my name is Anna.  Please come find me and don't hesitate to ask.  *then flashes me one of her cheezy "fake" smiles*  By the way, i LOVE your purse.  And your boots.  Sooooooo cute!!!

Do you see where I am going with this????  Seriously????

I'll be the first to admit, that I've done this too before.  Even at my own work.  Especially with patients who need thousands and thousands of dollars worth of dentistry....one actually VERY recent case might I add.  i looked at them and quickly "judged" and thought why even bother explaining everything?  She's not going to get the work done.  But after my doctor and I explained everything to her....her response was "you tell me what I need to do and I'll do it.  i want to have a gorgeous smile.  I'm tired of living like this!"  We actually had 2 cases like this back to back...and I'll admit that for BOTH these cases I thought the same thing.  This proves that we should all treat and be treated equally.  Who cares if they are not "dressed appropriately?"

Having said that it's not a good feeling being judged and looked "down" on because you don't look a certain way.  Right away this girl judged me the first day because maybe I didn't look "rich" enough....and the second time I looked "too rich".  Same thing with my transformation.  I may be a lot smaller, but I am still the same person.  It's sad how the people who talked behind my back, made my life a living hell in middle school/high school, never gave me the time of day now all of a sudden want to be my best friend.  ANd the worst part???  The guys who were ALL a**holes to me are now "showering" me with attention.  NO!  That's not what I want.  Now I'm not saying I wanted you all to like me, but it's sad that when I was bigger I was looked down upon.  The same guy who called me "that fat asian chick" now says "that hot asian chick".  I mean....really????

this is kind of a long rant, the point of it is.......get to know someone before you make assumptions.  Don't judge someone on their appearance first.  Now, physical chemistry is totally different.  I'm not talking about that I'm talking about not judging someone based solely on their looks.  We all do it.  But let's actually take a step back and really think about it.   If you can relate to this, please leave a comment and give feedback.  I'd love to hear about everyone else's thoughts!  God bless everyone!!!!!

  1. YEA!!! Love the blog and totally agree, it's ridiculous how we are (including myself) in judgments....I always say HE will judge us when the time comes, we should just love one another.
